Violet Memories - Day 30 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

"Violet Memories"
48" x 30"
Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas
$750

This is the last painting for the 30 Day challenge and I figured it would be best to end the series with a larger painting inspired from the many smaller studies done over the past 30 days.  This has been  a tremendous experience for me and I've learned so much!!!  I plan to continue the daily painting work and postings (or nearly everyday) and you can now find my work on Daily Paintworks under "JJ Jacobs."  I'm sorry the photo for today's painting is blurry -- I'm searching for a good, user-friendly point & shoot camera that takes better photos than the ones I'm able to get from my current Nikon Coolpix and iphone, so if you've got any recommendations, please send them my way.

Thank you for your comments and input during these last 30 days -- it is truly an honor to have been able to submit work with such a talented and experience bunch of artists.

A Glimmer of Hope - Day 5 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days

"A Glimmer of Hope"
Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
10" x 8"
$65
When I originally signed up for Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge I thought the photo I submitted was for my avatar.  Instead it was for the first day of the painting challenge, so here's a photo of the painting I presented.  Tomorrow will be Day 6 and with luck, I'll stay on track for the duration.  Sorry about any confusion -- so far I'm having fun with these small studies and look forward to painting the designs larger for my upcoming show in February at ArtHouse -- "Insights Beyond Form" with Taylor Gutermute and myself.

Dirty Laundry - Day 4 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge

Sleep?

Here's a favorite quote that describes how I feel about 2013:

"I'm so optimistic I'd go after Moby Dick in a rowboat and take the tartar sauce with me."
- Zig Ziglar

Out with 2012 and in with 2013!  A new year is upon us and so is the excitement that sparkles like a newly minted copper penny.  And in my gut, I feel that this will be a breakthrough year for me personally, as well as  a year of new beginnings.  How are you feeling about the New Year??  Is your intuition giving you a big thumb's up too?

I'm continuing to move full steam ahead with my art businesses and have promised myself at least two art-related "vacations" to further expand my art knowledge and learn new techniques.  And this morning I  agreed to participate in a "30 Paintings in 30 Days" challenge by the uber-talented artist, talk-show host and marketing expert, Leslie Saeta.  Really!

There's nothing like starting the New Year with a bang - I'm finishing a very fun commission for a cherished client of mine; getting ready for a 25-piece show at a hospital in two weeks; and prepping for a shared show with the amazing Taylor Gutermute in February at ArtHouse in Sacramento, CA.

So of course I figured I'd have time to squeeze in a 30-Paintings in 30-Days challenge.....apparently the sleep gene isn't in my DNA!  There will be lots of new JJ art coming your way in the first quarter of 2013 -- stay tuned.

ART

In placid hours well-pleased we dream
Of many a brave unbodied scheme.
But form to lend, pulsed life create,
What unlike things must meet and mate:
A flame to melt—a wind to freeze;
Sad patience—joyous energies;
Humility—yet pride and scorn;
Instinct and study; love and hate;
Audacity—reverence. These must mate,
And fuse with Jacob’s mystic heart,
To wrestle with the angel—Art.

-- Herman Melville
